Description :
Are you passionate about engineering and rail transport? Do you enjoy being at the heart of operations and working on various systems and equipment? We are seeking an Electrical Technician to play a key role in a versatile team to improve the efficiency and reliability of the electrical systems in our train fleet.

In collaboration with engineers and other specialists, the technician or technologist will be responsible for the design of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. The Electrical Technician will be tasked with sourcing equivalent parts or systems to replace obsolete ones. Additionally, the Electrical Technician will provide technical support to maintenance and other departments such as production, service, small workshops, and procurement.

• Design improvements for railway equipment, including preliminary design, scheduling, time and material estimates, and engineering documentation;
• Develop test plans to validate the proper functioning of systems after modification;
• Maintain updated electrical schematics;
• Supervise the installation and testing of prototypes, coordinating activities and conducting acceptance tests in accordance with general instructions and standards established by Via Rail;
• Write specifications and technical reports.

Requirements:
• College diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering, specializing in electrotechnics, automation, or industrial electricity;
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and workplace electrical safety standards;
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial electrician;
• Knowledge of AutoCAD software;
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers, instrumentation & control, and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).;
• Excellent understanding of basic electrical concepts, with the ability to read single-line and multi-line diagrams;
• Proficiency in both written and spoken French and English;
• Experience with railway rolling stock or heavy transport equipment (an asset).
